On the 24th and 25th of June, 2015, the Managing Director of Health Solutions Inc. (HSI), Mrs. Pauline Garabedian-DeFreitas attended a Workshop – Re: NCDs – Improving Quality of Care Project in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
According to the Ministry of Health in SVG, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the region and also in SVG. CARICOM member states have the highest burden of non-communicable diseases in the region of the Americas.
In this regard, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) convened workshops in Bequia and on the mainland to discuss the Chronic Care Model in learning session 2, and apply the assessment tool and collaborating plan.
The facilitator for the sessions was Dr. Tomo Kanda, PAHO Advisor on Chronic Diseases and Mental Health.
HSI would like to extend its gratitude to the SVG Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and PAHO for the invitation to attend and contribute to the discussions.
