NEPHROLOGIST –

Dr. Nazim Boris Mohammed M.D. MSc.(UK) FASN

Dr. Nazim Boris Mohammed is an American Board Certified Nephrologist and Board Certified in Internal Medicine (USA). He also possesses a Trinidad and Tobago Medical License (Internal Medicine and Specialist Registration) and is a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners (USA)(Part 1 & 2) as well as the Federation Licensure Examination (FLEX) and ECFMG Certificate (Valid Indefinitely).
His skills and talents have led to experience ranging from Senior Registrar and Consultant at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mount Hope Hospital in Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) to being an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Medical Sciences Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of the West Indies (UWI). He is currently the Head of Nephrology Services and Consultant Nephrologist at Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex Mount Hope Hospital in T&Tand Interviewer at the St. George’s University, School of Medicine St. George’s, Grenada.

Dr. Mohammed has not only been a proponent for the advancement of kidney care in T&T for numerous years but he has shared his vast knowledge and experience and passion for kidney care with Health Solutions patients in SVG where he acts as our Nephrologist.

The Management of Health Solutions is delighted to have such a caliber of medical professional as an integral part of our team.

SURGEON –

Dr. Malcolm Samuel MBBS, FRCS, FCCS

Dr. Malcolm Samuel serves as a medical consultant to Health Solutions Inc. due to his extensive knowledge and experience as a Renal Transplant Surgeon. Dr. Samuel is originally from St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and maintains a practice in his homeland but works primarily in both the public and private health sectors of Trinidad & Tobago (T&T).

He pursued and obtained his undergraduate training at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica and Cave Hill, Barbados. Following his studies, Dr. Samuel trained in general surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Barbados; University Hospital, Jamaica and the United Kingdom (1993-97). He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of England.
Dr. Samuel returned to the QEH, Barbados and continued his surgical experience as Senior Registrar until 2002 when he returned to the UK for a period of higher surgical training. This he pursued through several hospital appointments including fellowships in breast disease and renal transplantation.

Dr. Samuel holds membership of a number of professional organizations including the British Transplant Society and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons andis a Fellow of the Caribbean College of Surgeons.

The Management of HSI is proud to have a ‘son of the soil’ as a consultant and advisor as his passion and dedication to persons with kidney disease and related health issues is reflected in his contribution to the care of the patients at HSI.

RADIOLOGIST –

Dr. Fidel Shilendra Rampersad

Dr. Fidel Rampersad is a Consultant Vascular and Interventional Radiologist and Lecturer in Radiology at the University of West Indies (UWI, St. Augustine Campus and is a coordinator of the Post-graduate Programme at UWI, for Radiology. He is an Honorary Consultant at Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Trinidad and is a Consultant for several private facilities in T&T, Barbados and Health Solutions in SVG.

Finally, Dr. Rampersad is a founding member and Secretary of the Radiological Society of T&T.

He is a proud graduate of the DM Radiology PG Programme at UWI, St. Augustine Campus and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiology in the United Kingdom. Additionally, he completed a Fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Singapore General Hospital, fully sponsored by the Eastern Regional Health Authority, when he was Head of Radiology. He completed his Medicine Undergraduate Degree from UWI in 2001.

MANAGING DIRECTOR –

Pauline Garabedian-DeFreitas RN

Pauline Garabedian-DeFreitas RN is a medical services professional with almost 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario (Canada) with experience in medical case management, medical and rehabilitation management of pediatric and adolescents with Acquired Brain and Spinal Cord injuries, rheumatology and neurological conditions. She also had the opportunity to work with the pediatric population with neurological conditions within the community and the general population with various acute medical conditions in an acute setting.

Since the inception of Health Solutions Inc., her medical experience and nursing skills have expanded to incorporate dialysis as she is also licensed as a Registered Nurse in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and now manages the first-ever established hemodialysis facility in the country.

OB-GYN –

Dr. Luz G. Pabilona MD, DPAMS

Dr. Luz G. Pabilona has been an obstetrician and gynecologist (OB-GYN) for over 27 years with a career commencing in her homeland of the Republic of the Philippines to her continuing to be of service to patients in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) since 2006.

Her credentials and skills have resulted in her gaining experience ranging from performing normal and abnormal delivery of babies to minor and major obstetrical and gynecological surgeries and procedures. She is a lifetime member of the Philippine Medical Association and member of the SVG Medical Association and is currently the Senior Registrar at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in SVG.

Dr. Pabilona’s exemplary reputation in the community and overall approach to each patient truly lends itself to our aim at being a champion of women’s health in SVG.

General Practitioner–

Dr. Julia Akcayli M.D.

Dr. Julia Akcayli is our General Practitioner (GP) at Health Solutions who is our in-house primary care physician with an aim at early disease detection and prevention. She is a graduate of Trinity School of Medicine in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and a registered physician with the SVG Medical Board, the Medical Council of the Bahamas and the Swiss Medical Register.

After completing her Internship at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, she held the position as Senior House Officer in Obstetrics and Gynecology for 2 years. She has experience in practical medical and extensive surgical experience in outpatient clinics, including the management of obstetric and gynecologic emergencies as well as performing minor surgeries and cesarean sections as a primary surgeon under supervision.

Dr. Akcayli is also a trained Emergency Medical Responder prior to becoming a medical doctor. Health Solutions is pleased to have this well-rounded Vincentian/German national as part of our team.
